I have enjoyed teaching in a variety of venues: high school, college, and lifelong learning.  For 10 years, I worked in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, reviewing thousands of applications each year. A major responsibility was being in charge of international applications. I found that the part of my job I enjoyed most was meeting individual students, either at their schools or when they came to visit the campus.

That's when I returned to my hometown -- New York -- and began 11 years of work as a college counselor. I have worked at several independent schools, primarily at the United Nations International School. Also, since 2007, I have contributed a column, "Ask the College Counselor," at www.insideschools.org where I answer readers' questions about the college application process.  In addition, I have contributed my expertise to programs for underrepresented urban students and for new speakers of English.

I have also researched many areas of interest and have enjoyed sharing this work with the public, colleagues and readers.
