10 weeks of Sustainability + Activism at an Earth Sanctuary
Are you seeking a gap year experience that links social justice, the environment, the economy, and your development as an individual?
The Rising Earth Immersion is a 10-week residential semester in Chapel Hill, NC for change-makers ages 18-28 who are seeking to live in balance with the Earth by engaging in personal, cultural, and ecological healing and transformation.
While living in dynamic community on an organic farm and Earth sanctuary, participants engage in contemplative practice, community building, and nature connection all while studying permaculture principles and nourishing our bodies with food from our abundant gardens and kitchen. With guidance from climate and social justice organizers, ecologists, farmers, renewable energy engineers, natural builders, herbalists, fermenters, alternative economists, elders, and their peers, participants catalyze their learning through community engagement, activism projects, and critical theory. Participants learn to forge a path forward by drawing on traditional ecological knowledge as well as innovative modern theory and praxis.
